United through Service (USP)

Empowering Veterans, Families & Immigrant Service Members

United through Service is an initiative of the Military Veterans Empowerment Network (MVEN) dedicated to uplifting diverse military families, transitioning service members, and underserved veteran populations through a trauma-informed, culturally competent approach.


We are committed to serving those who have worn the uniform and their families, especially:


  • Justice-involved veterans reintegrating into civilian life
     
  • LGBTIQA+ veterans and families are facing systemic barriers
     
  • Immigrant veterans and military-connected households navigating citizenship, language access, and support systems
     

Whether you’re a veteran parent, a spouse, a child of a service member, or an immigrant who served this nation, you belong here.

Our Services:

Housing Support & Stability


We help individuals and families secure and sustain long-term housing. Services include:

  • Transitional & permanent housing referrals
     
  • Emergency rental assistance
     
  • Landlord mediation and housing rights advocacy referrals
     
  • Navigation of VA housing benefits and local resources
     
  • Housing support for:
     
    • Veterans experiencing homelessness
       
    • Formerly incarcerated (justice-involved) veterans
       
    • LGBTIQA+ individuals facing discrimination
       
    • Immigrant families navigating documentation barriers
       
  • Peer-led housing mentorship and reentry planning


Employment & Career Pathways


We believe economic stability builds stronger families. United through Service offers:

  • Job readiness workshops and resume development
     
  • Career coaching and inclusive hiring support
     
  • Second-chance employment for justice-involved veterans
     
  • Vocational training, certifications, and licensing assistance
     
  • Paid internships and apprenticeships for military-connected youth and spouses
     
  • Entrepreneurship & small business development programs
     
  • Corporate partnerships with veteran-friendly employers


Family Support & Wellness Initiatives


Our wraparound wellness programming promotes healing, belonging, and growth:

  • Peer support groups for children, spouses, caregivers, LGBTIQA+, and justice-involved veterans
     
  • Trauma-informed case management
     
  • Referrals for culturally competent and identity-affirming mental health care
     
  • Recovery navigation and substance use counseling referrals.
     
  • Support for survivors of Military Sexual Trauma (MST)
     
  • Recreational therapy, retreats, and mindfulness workshops
     
  • Family coaching and reintegration services


Immigrant Veterans & Multilingual Families


We proudly serve veterans and families who:

  • Earned U.S. citizenship through military service
     
  • Face challenges with documentation or cultural stigma
     
  • Need support navigating VA and state programs.
     
  • Seek to preserve service-driven values within their communities.
     
  • Benefit from bilingual staff, interpretation services, and cross-cultural case management


Justice-Involved Veteran Services


We provide reentry support and second-chance pathways for veterans impacted by the criminal justice system:

  • Case management during reentry and parole transitions
     
  • Connection to expungement clinics and legal aid
     
  • Workforce readiness and transitional housing resources
     
  • Peer support from other justice-involved veterans

Eligibility

Veterans are currently enrolled in MVEN’s programs or referred by local VA hospitals or community partners.


Family members, including spouses and children, are in need of services.

We believe the power of “United through Service” lies in collective impact. Here’s how you can join the mission:

  • Partner with Us: Join our coalition of nonprofits, schools, employers, health providers, and faith-based leaders.
     
  • Refer a Family: Educators, VA staff, and case managers are encouraged to refer military-connected individuals or households to our program.
     
  • Donate: Your contributions directly support housing, employment, and wellness services for underserved veterans.
     
  • Volunteer: Mentor a veteran, host a workshop, or serve at a community event.
